William Kentridge at Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Yorkshire Sculpture Park presents a new landmark exhibition by the celebrated South African artist, William Kentridge.
Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP) presents a major exhibition dedicated to South African artist William Kentridge. The Pull of Gravity marks the first museum presentation outside South Africa to focus on his sculpture and has been a decade in the making.
Comprising over 40 pieces made between 2007 and 2024, this ambitious project occupies YSP’s Underground Gallery, with additional works displayed outdoors in the surrounding landscape.
Over the past two decades, sculpture has become an increasingly significant part of Kentridge’s multidisciplinary practice, emerging from his work in drawing, puppetry, film, and stage design. This exhibition brings together a wide selection of sculptures from this period, spanning various scales and materials, including bronze, steel, paper, cardboard, plaster, wood and found objects.
Several works are on public display for the first time, including Paper Procession (2024), a newly commissioned group of six monumental coloured sculptures shown in procession through YSP’s historic gardens.
The Bukhman Foundation is proud to support this landmark presentation.
The exhibition opens on 28th June 2025 and runs until 19th April 2026.
