Running from 8 March to 9 June 2024, Acts of Resistance: Photography, Feminisms and the Art of Protest at South London Gallery is a landmark exhibition that brings together works by international artists and collectives who challenge traditional notions of protest imagery through photography.

Curated in collaboration with the V&A Parasol Foundation Women in Photography Project, the exhibition offers a comprehensive exploration of feminist activism across diverse cultural and political contexts. From Zanele Muholi’s intimate portraits confronting injustices faced by the LGBTQIA+ community in South Africa, to the Guerrilla Girls’ bold critiques of institutional bias and Nan Goldin’s deeply personal reflections on societal issues, the exhibition also explores themes such as intersectionality, solidarity, and the transformative role of digital technology in shaping contemporary feminist movements.

Featuring a dynamic mix of historical and contemporary practices, it invites audiences to consider how visual culture has both shaped and amplified the voices of marginalised communities.

The Bukhman Foundation is proud to be the exhibition’s lead donor, highlighting our commitment to championing diverse perspectives in art and culture.
