In Spring 2024, Turner Contemporary presents Beyond Form: Lines of Abstraction, 1950–1970 , supported by the Bukhman Foundation. Curated by Dr Flavia Frigeri, the exhibition explores how women artists used abstraction to challenge gender norms and respond to cultural shifts after World War II. Featuring over 80 works by artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Eva Hesse, and Carmen Herrera, it reveals a global dialogue of shared radical expression.

Turner Contemporary’s impact extends far beyond its world-class exhibitions. Since opening in 2011, the gallery has been instrumental in the regeneration of Margate and East Kent, one of the UK’s most deprived areas. With over 4.1 million visits and £80 million reinvested into the local economy, the gallery has become a cornerstone of cultural and social transformation.

Highlighting sculpture, fibre art, and innovative materials, Beyond Form reclaims women’s pivotal role in abstraction’s development while connecting Eastern and Western narratives.
