We’re thrilled to announce the Bukhman Foundation’s support towards James Norton, ambassador for Breakthrough T1D, as he prepares to take on the London Marathon.

James is running to raise funds for Breakthrough T1D, the leading global charity dedicated to advancing research and improving the lives of people living with type 1 diabetes. To help maximize the impact of this fundraising effort, the Bukhman Foundation has pledged to double-match all donations raised, up to £30,000. This means that for every £1 donated, we will contribute £2, significantly increasing the funds that will go towards lifechanging research.

For over 40 years, Breakthrough T1D has driven major advances in treatments and technologies for type 1 diabetes. Continued funding is essential to sustain this momentum and bring us closer to a cure.

We are deeply grateful to James for his dedication, and to everyone contributing to this effort. Together, we have a powerful opportunity to make a lasting difference.

Of his marathon run, James said: “Very excited, and a little apprehensive, to be running the 2026 London marathon for Breakthrough T1D. I’ve never run a marathon before. The notion of running 42km in one go has always seemed like an insane idea. It still does. However, the potential to raise some funds and awareness for this incredible charity makes it more than worth it. Breakthrough T1D does vital work in finding a cure for type 1 diabetes. My mother, my sister and I all have type 1 and our lives have been made immeasurably better by all the work Breakthrough T1D does.”

About Breakthrough T1D
Breakthrough T1D is the leading global type 1 diabetes (T1D) research and advocacy charity.
It works to improve everyday life for people with T1D while driving progress towards cures. Today, it is opening doors that were once closed by a diagnosis of T1D. It achieves this by connecting the brightest minds and investing in the most promising research, campaigning for access to treatments and technology, and supporting the T1D community.

About James Norton
In March 2026, actor James Norton (Happy Valley, House of Guinness, King and Conqueror) announced that he will be running the TCS London Marathon on behalf of Breakthrough T1D. A passionate supporter of the charity, over the years James has helped shine a valuable spotlight on Breakthrough T1D’s work and mission, most notably through his appearance on the Cbeebies Bedtime Story alongside the charity’s mascot, Rufus the T1D bear. James knows first-hand just how relentless type 1 diabetes (T1D) can be; not only does he live with the condition, so does his sister and mum.
