The Bukhman Centre for Research Excellence in Type 1 Diabetes at Oxford University
A new partnership with University of Oxford to accelerate research, foster collaboration, and bring us closer to a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
The Bukhman Foundation is proud to announce a £10 million gift to the University of Oxford to establish the Bukhman Centre for Research Excellence in Type 1 Diabetes. This transformative investment will fund senior academic posts, fellowships, and DPhil scholarships, creating a vibrant hub for discovery and talent development in the fight against type 1 diabetes (T1D).
The Bukhman Centre will bring together experts from across Oxford – including medical sciences, chemistry, bioengineering, and computer science – to drive collaborative, multidisciplinary research. By leveraging Oxford’s unique breadth of expertise and cutting-edge infrastructure, the Centre will serve as a catalyst for innovative breakthroughs that can be rapidly translated into life-changing advances for patients.
Within its overarching goal of finding a cure for T1D, the Centre will focus on identifying individuals at risk to enable early intervention through cutting-edge immunotherapy trials, developing immune strategies to prevent the disease before it occurs, and producing more effective cell therapies to help people already living with T1D.
At the Bukhman Foundation, we know first-hand the profound impact T1D has on individuals and families. We are honoured to partner with Oxford University in this historic endeavour and to support world-class research that will accelerate progress towards new treatments and ultimately, a cure.
