Art Block: a free creative space for children
The South London Gallery’s unique creative space for children and young people on Sceaux Gardens estate, Camberwell.
Art Block is an inspiring initiative by the South London Gallery. It is a free creative space located directly behind the SLG on Sceaux Gardens estate, Camberwell, for local children and young people to make, play and be creative.
Art Block offers free after-school and holiday sessions, which run 3 days per week for children aged 6-16 and living locally. Art Block is a unique space, with a programme that brings together practices from youth work, play work and socially engaged art practice. Activities are led by the skilled Communities & Learning team, many of whom are local young people who bring fresh ideas and shared lived experiences with children who attend. The children also regularly collaborate with visiting artists, creating unforgettable experiences and growing their creative agency.
As the lead supporter for 2025 and 2026, the Bukhman Foundation is proud to stand alongside the South London Gallery in their efforts to provide a creative space that furthers artistic expression and accessible education in the community.
